Evil Neighborhood Kitties

Jul 22 • Posted In: Uncategorized

Lost CatSo it looks like we have a neighbor that just lets their cat run wild outside – only problem is that it likes to run inside other people’s houses and bite and scratch if you try to pick it up.

Tonight it ran inside one of the townhomes in our unit – the owner came to see if it was ours and it ran right upstairs – when Melinda went to pick it up it scratched her really good on the forehead.

When will people learn to keep their cats inside? When will they learn that they need to get a license and rabies tag for their cats?

Melinda and I try to do our best to rescue stray animals since someone saved our bird Pinba, but these people need to learn.  They’ve been told multiple times there cats are running around the neighborhood and the animal control officers have told them they need to get tags.  Since the police can’t do anything tonight I will call the Longmont animal control to do something about it in the morning.

Rescuing Lost Pets

Lost CatMelinda and I rescued another lost pet last night.  Around 1 AM a orange cat came up to our patio door and looked in at us. So what do you think we did?

We let it in.

Almost a year ago our blue parakeet, Pinba, escaped.  Almost a week later, we had him returned to us because someone else made the effort to take care of him.  We decided that we should do the same thing whenever we come across a lost pet.

So it turns out the orange cat had a collar with a phone number – but it was a South Carolina number.  Since the Longmong Animal Control could not pick up the cat until morning we decided to keep it over night. Lucky for us the cat was very well behaved and very friendly.

This morning Animal Control picked up the cat, and about an hour later, returned in to one of our neighbors that live nearby that had recently moved in.

Had they updated the cats tag with a current number and address we could have returned the cat right away. But we had a fun night with the cat anyways.
